Behind the Scenes with C4 Cannabis Company

"Today, we remember to thank all veterans who served and sacrificed for our freedoms! Here is a quick highlight of an inspiring story about two veterans who started a cannabis manufacturing company in Northern California."
Founded by military veterans Dave Petersen and Curtis Bortle, C4 Cannabis emerged from the Sierra Nevada region of Northern California. After returning from deployment, Petersen, a disabled combat veteran, sought alternative treatments for PTSD, finding relief in cannabis rather than opioids. Inspired by this healing journey, he co-founded C4 with the goal of offering similar support to other veterans.
"My vision is for C4 to be a leader in providing cannabis products for veterans dealing with PTSD," Petersen shares.
Bortle, also a disabled combat veteran with 14 years of military service, joined forces with Petersen after deepening his understanding of cannabis legalization in California. “Cannabis is at least as safe, if not safer, than alcohol. Legalizing it is the logical solution,” Bortle states.
In 2021, Petersen retired as a Chief Warrant Officer in the Army Special Forces, while Bortle retired as a Staff Sergeant. Together, they continue to advocate for accessible, high-quality cannabis for veterans and others in need.
C4 is also dedicated to its local community, particularly youth development. By training young workers in cannabis production and offering them real-world skills, C4 fosters future careers while driving the company’s growth. The integration of Xylem Robotics has streamlined operations, combining innovation with a strong commitment to healing and community impact, making C4 a standout in the veteran-owned cannabis sector.
